How long will be the TIE Masters program?

The TIE Masters will be a 16-month program with the first batch of students joining in Fall 2024. The students will spend the first ten months at the KAUST campus at Thuwal, followed by six months at Shenzhen in China.

Will there be any elective courses?

Admitted students will select four elective courses in consultation with their academic advisors to round up their academic skills. These elective courses will be taken in conjunction with four core (mandatory) courses - TIE 201, TIE 202, TIE 211, TIE 212.

Will I be required to go to Shenzhen as part of my Masters degree?

Yes. Students will be required to be in Shenzhen for six months to develop their products. Students will take courses at KAUST during the Fall and Spring semesters followed by six months of mandatory internship at innoX academy in Shenzhen. It will be imperative that students perform well in the courses at KAUST to prepare them for their Shenzhen journey.

What resources will be available to me in Shenzhen?

You will have a KAUST liaison person in Shenzhen to help you settle there. You will be guided by local instructors who will advise you with your product development and prototyping. 

Will KAUST provide me housing at Shenzhen?

We will provide you free on-campus housing during your time in KAUST. While in Shenzhen, you will be financially responsible for your housing. However, you will be assisted by the KAUST liaison.  

Do you offer a scholarship?

Every admitted student earns the KAUST Fellowship, which grants them full free tuition, monthly living allowance, on-campus housing, medical and dental coverage, and a relocation allowance. More details can be found at admissions.kaust.edu.sa
