The Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship (TIE) Program teaches the fundamental knowledge required to build an entrepreneurial mindset and develop commercially viable products that can benefit society.
The first cohort of students will start in fall 2024.
Using an interdisciplinary, project-based approach, underpinned by scientific, data-driven research methods, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the entire product development lifecycle, from ideation to prototyping to commercialization. Enrolled students will also learn how to think creatively, identify opportunities and take calculated risks — skills that will help them launch entrepreneurial ventures and/or secure positions in innovative companies within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and beyond.
To accelerate these goals, students will be enrolled in courses that cover a range of topics such as engineering quantitative methods, product development, applied mathematics, machine learning, programming and robotics. TIE will provide access to state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, world-class mentors, industry partnerships, networking opportunities with fintech investors and founders. Notably, an internship will be organized in Shenzhen, China, where students will develop their problem-solving skills alongside innovation leaders in a unique immersive experience in China’s technology capital.
Entry requirements
The program advisory committee will consider prospective applicants who bring a strong STEM-focused background, good GPA and experience with capstone projects / product development. Students with undergraduate degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Bioengineering will be preferred. Qualified candidates will be invited for individual assessments, likely an online interview and/or participation in a two-day workshop. Saudi nationals are strongly encouraged to apply. Accepted students will collaborate with academic advisors to identify gaps in prerequisite knowledge and develop a personalized study plan aimed to give them a solid foundation for success.
