The Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship (TIE) Program teaches the fundamental knowledge required to build an entrepreneurial mindset and develop commercially viable products that can benefit society.
Using an interdisciplinary, project-based approach, underpinned by scientific, data-driven research methods, students will gain a comprehensive understanding of the entire product development lifecycle, from ideation to prototyping to commercialization. Enrolled students will also learn how to think creatively, identify opportunities and take calculated risks — skills that will help them launch entrepreneurial ventures and/or secure positions in innovative companies within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and beyond.
To accelerate these goals, students will be enrolled in courses that cover a range of topics such as design thinking, prototyping, manufacturing, product development, applied mathematics, machine learning, edge computing, IoT systems, programming and robotics. TIE will provide access to state-of-the-art equipment and facilities, world-class mentors, industry partnerships, networking opportunities with investors and founders. Notably, a 6-months product development internship will be organized at a Global Technology Hub, where students will develop their problem-solving skills alongside innovation leaders in a unique immersive experience.
Entry requirements
The program admission committee will consider prospective applicants with a strong STEM background, a solid GPA, experience in capstone projects or product development, and a demonstrated entrepreneurial motivation. Students with undergraduate degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Bioengineering will be preferred. Qualified candidates will be invited for individual assessments, likely an online and/or in-person interview. Saudi nationals are strongly encouraged to apply. Accepted students will engage with academic advisors to identify gaps in prerequisite knowledge and develop a personalized study plan aimed to give them a solid foundation for success.
